Kitten Heels

Kitten heels are back, again. Yes, they have been in fashion before and they will return in ten years. Kitten heels were once called “training heels” because teenage girls used them before they were allowed to wear high heels or stilettos. The kitten heel is between one and a half and two inches high and is not located on the back of the shoe, like high heels are. Due to their curving form starting from the back of the shoe and moving forward, you will find the heel exactly in the middle of the heel.

These heels were first introduced in to fashion world in the 1950s when small girls thirteen to fifteen wanted to wear heels like their mothers did. By the middle of the 1960s girls of all ages were wearing them. It was Audrey Hepburn who made this style popular and made every girl which she had a pair. During this time, the style and color of the shoe were not important, they all wanted to wear the same shoes Audrey was wearing.

During the 1970s they disappeared and resurfaced during the 1980s with new, different styles, even famous shoe designers started to make shoes with the famous kitten heels. Many different styles of shoes are made with these heels because they have the advantage that young girls can wear them too. A mother who likes her daughter to wear the same outfits she does can easily find the shoes for both of them to wear. Young girls feel like women wearing heels instead of the flat shoes they used to wear.

Kitten heels returned to the fashion world in 2003 and they are here to stay. They are comfortable and come in many different styles, from formal party shoes all the way to everyday walk around shoes. Girls like them because they start to train in the use of high heels with them and do not have to go through the process of learning to walk on high heels. The kitten heels serve as a transition between flat shoes and high heels.

Today you can find them in high fashion stores designed by people like Jimmy Choo, Bruno Magli and Beatrix Ong and in brands of recognized names as Prada and Nine West. These are just examples most every famous designer and design house has several new shoe models set on top of kitten heels.

Kitten Heel shoes have certain positive traits that have helped them establish a strong position within the fashion world. The first is that almost every shoe style ever invented will fit on kitten heels. A woman does not need much training and practice to walk on them. They give young girls a womanly sense, they feel that they have passed their childhood stage and have progressed to a higher level of style and elegance. Kitten heels are comfortable to walk on for long periods of time and they are difficult to fall from when compared to high heels or stilettos. This time around they are here to stay for the benefit of every woman and to become the nightmare of all these women’s husbands and fathers.
